Peripheral Views, Connah Podmore

19 - 29 June 2025 (Te Auaha Gallery, 65 Dixon Street, Wellington)
Peripheral Views presents everyday moments in quiet, often obscured ways. This body of work invites viewers to meditate on gentle details often glanced over and discover layers of complexity in the seemingly simple.

Drawing on the dispersion of light, the fleeting nature of vision, and the subtle distance between observer and object, Connah Podmore and students of Samuel Marsden Collegiate School present work that explores a shifting from subject to sensation.

Connah Podmore is an award-winning Wellington-based artist whose practice spans drawing, installation, photography, painting, weaving, and text. Her work, often described as ‘expanded drawing,’ is grounded in the poetry of the everyday. Connah holds a Master of Fine Arts from Massey University and was the winner of the 2023 Parkin Drawing Prize. She has exhibited widely across Aotearoa and brings a thoughtful, layered approach to her artmaking. During her six-week residency at Marsden, Connah has worked closely with students to investigate composition, mark-making, and the significance of overlooked moments. This exhibition is the culmination of that shared creative inquiry.
